 | | | | | On behalf of the Board of Directors of the CCTA, I would like to thank you for your recent attendance at the 2010 Annual Meeting held at the Rio Mar Beach Resort from January 25 to 28. If you were not able to attend, you missed a truly good show as the speakers and presentations, as well as the social events, were excellent. We would also like to thank the management and staff of Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico who hosted the 2010 Annual Meeting. Without their significant support, the meeting would not have been as successful as it was. There were 351 representatives of 151 companies or organizations in attendance, making it the second largest Caribbean Show in history. The attendees traveled from 25 different countries and territories to participate. There were 95 exhibitors and traffic in the Exhibit Hall was brisk. At the Annual Membership Meeting held on Wednesday, January 27, new officers and directors of the association were elected. For the 2010 year, the Board of Directors are Chair Brendan Paddick of Columbus Communications Inc.; Vice Chair and Chair Elect Bill Ewing of The Cable; Past Chair Terry Roberson of Bermuda CableVision; Director David Burrows of Cable Bahamas; Director Michael Carrosquilla of Choice Cable TV; Director Beulah Jonis of St. Maarten Cable TV; and Director Raul Ponson of SETAR. The Associate Membership elected Patrick Harrell of Outdoor Channel and John Kurpinski of Tarpon Communications to serve as the two Associate Directors. Sponsors of the various activities associated with the Annual Meeting were generous, and for this support, the Board of Directors is extremely grateful. The Gold Sponsors were Columbus Communications Inc.; BBC Worldwide Americas; Caribbean Cable Cooperative Limited; and Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. Silver Sponsors were Centennial PR; Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic; CommScope, Inc.; TVC Caribbean & Latin America; and Fox Cable Networks. Bronze Sponsors were Advanced Media Technologies; Calix; Home Box Office; Infinity Marketing, Inc.; Wealth TV; Disney and ESPN Networks; and Toner Cable Equipment, Inc. The Auction and Raffle to raise funds for the Community Charities Program, in particular Haitian relief, did well, bringing in $11,590 to date. Columbus Communications Inc. generously pledged a match of up to $10,000 for Haitian relief, so the CCTA’s contribution to Haitian relief programs will be significant. The credit for this success goes to the companies that donated items for the Auction and Raffle, those who purchased tickets and auction items, and our outstanding auctioneer Patrick Harrell of the Outdoor Channel. The CCTA's web site, www.cctanet.com, will soon be updated with 2010 membership information. Please continue to use this source for information on the CCTA, its annual activities and outstanding membership.
